Hunting Monsters in Your Head

For a long time now, digital games have discovered difficult topics such as depression, suicide, trauma, and anxiety disorders as a source of inspiration. Sometimes by means of images and metaphors, sometimes more conrete and without hesitation, developers put their own experiences into these games to share their stories. Games like Sea of Solitude, What Remains of Edith Finch, Depression Quest and many more can help those affected – or seriously harm them.
This workshop introduces the multifarious world of games that deal with mental health: How do games deal with such topics? What is the motivation behind these personal works? And in how far can a game really help those affected and enlighten those who are not affected? In this workshop, participants will find answers to these and many more questions.
This Workshop will be in German.
